DEMENTIA AWARENESS WEEK
19 - 26 SEPTEMBER 2008
What:
GPs, Divisions and GP Networks, please promote this important event which this year focuses on "Mind Your Mind" and reducing risk factors for Dementia. We offer you an information sheet summarizing risk factors for dementia, and two brief questionnaires, one for patients in the waiting room and one for GPs and Nurses.
Use this week to help our research in GP dementia services. Our project has ethical approval from James Cook University and is supervised by Professors Bernhard Baune and Lee Kennedy. We also have a GP Dementia Audit package approved for 40 RACGP category 1 points which can be completed as a distance learning module or through a workshop which we can supply. Your help in promoting Dementia awareness and our research would be appreciated.

MEDICARE - WORKING TOGETHER TO GET IT RIGHT

In the 2008-2009 Federal Budget, the Australian Government announced its plan to refine and enhance the MBS audit process undertaken by Medicare Australia. The Mackay Division of General Practice has invited Medicare Australia to give an understanding of the budget initiative, to explain the components of the increased MBS compliance audits and provide an opportunity to better understand the Medicare Benefits Schedule in providing patient services.
